1. Origin and Composition of Watermelon Essential Oil
- Extraction Method: Typically obtained through cold-pressing watermelon seeds or rinds, it may contain trace amounts of active compounds found in watermelon (such as vitamin C, lycopene, citrulline, etc.), but their concentration is significantly lower than consuming watermelon directly.
- Limitations: Essential oils are highly concentrated volatile substances, and most beneficial components of watermelon (such as water and dietary fiber) cannot be preserved in this form.
2. Claimed "Therapeutic Effects" and Scientific Evidence
- Antioxidant and Skincare Benefits: Watermelon contains vitamin C and lycopene (antioxidants), which may benefit the skin. However, the concentration of these compounds in the essential oil and their transdermal absorption efficacy are questionable; topical application may not be more effective than direct consumption.
- Muscle Fatigue Relief: Citrulline in watermelon
